God Bless America

Yesterday we went to the annual Fourth of July parade in Danville. We were actually in attendance last year, too. Here are some old pictures:

And here are some new ones:

Look how much Rose and I have grown!

The parade was really cute, and Rose was actually quite well-behaved. She loved getting the little flags, and would wave them around with pride. She also clapped when everyone else did. She's definitely proud to be an American.

The day before the parade, we experienced another bit of good ol' fashioned americana--a county fair. Pictures:

Rose got really freaked out by these people on stilts.

She wouldn't even look up at them as they took our photo.

After trudging through some of the unsavory aspects of the fair--seedy vendors, junky-yet-expensive toys, unsafe-looking rides, fried (insert food here)--we came to the traditional fair stuff: animals.

Rose thought the animals were very fun and interesting, and she learned a lot by observing them. For example, this picture represents her first lesson on the birds and the bees--"how babies are born." Just in time. This poor mother sheep had already popped out two little lambs by the time we got there. Can you believe that? No one was there to help her; she just had to endure through it all as a whole audience looked on. Maybe not the best thing to witness in my pregnant condition.

Riding the fake cow. By the way, we also saw bunnies, chicks, and pigs.

Anyway, we had a fun time celebrating the birth of our nation, and boy are we blessed to live here! God Bless the USA!

Good times. . .good times. So glad we could share the Danville Parade again! Gotta love those sweet veterans. May we never forget their valor and love of country. That's my sermon of the day!
