Jasmine's Firsts

Two Sundays ago Jasmine attended church for the very first time. She was two weeks old. She slept most of the time, and came with me to Relief Society (I got to take a break from my primary music leader gig!). Everyone was delighted to see her. Here's a picture of her in her little dress:

Rose seriously adores her. Jasmine couldn't ask for a more attentive, doting sister.

A week or two ago Jasmine also had her first legitimate bath. Up until that point I had just been shampooing her hair. She was a little fussy, but immediately calmed down when I put her in the water. 

I love naked babies!! This will probably be the last bath picture I post of Rose on the blog, though, because she's becoming a little more concerned about her modesty. For example, she didn't want to take off her shorts at the park (to run in the water feature) because she didn't want people to see her panties. She had no qualms about removing her shirt, however...

A nice shampoo in a warm bath feels so relaxing...

This past Sunday Jasmine received her name and blessing at church. For all you non-LDS people, a baby blessing is kind of like a christening. A priesthood holder (usually the father) pronounces the name by which the child will be known upon the records of the church, and blesses her with certain gifts through the power of the priesthood. Sevak did a beautiful job, and many loved ones were able to stand in the circle with him: my dad, his dad (who just flew in from Armenia!), his "American" dad, and his "American" brother. Some of the things Jasmine was blessed with were: physical strength and health, an abundance of the spirit, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the ability to follow the example of the women in her life, and an ability to develop her talents. I don't have any close-up shots of Jasmine in her blessing dress, so maybe we'll have to do another photo shoot soon. It was so cute, though. My "American" mother-in-law made it, as she has made all my babies' blessing outfits. Here's a shot of our little family:

When Jasmine wasn't sleeping, she got passed around the whole time, which was nice for me :)

My kids had so much fun with all our family. They laughed hard and played hard this weekend; that's for sure. Simon was also so cute with his papik. He hadn't seen him for six months, so he just sat on his lap for a long time and smiled:

I am so grateful to everyone who came out and rearranged their schedules to accomodate coming to the blessing. What a wonderful and special time. Jasmine is lucky to have been born into this family! ;)
